the first time i knew i was home was on that bridge

I remember driving across the bay bridge when i was six years old and feeling like i was home. from that moment, i began a love affair with this magical place that lasts to this day. I lived there for nearly 20 years before moving down south, this image was taken on my last night as a technical san franciscan, although as the old song goes, there is a small part of my heart that will always be left in san francisco.

we are proud to offer these beautiful, limited-edition giclée prints from artist and photographer joshua wilder oakley. collected together here, for the first time, in the series:

place • place[s] • place[d]

most of oakley’s photographic work relies heavily on what he likes to call composite[ry]; a blend of collage, blatant digital manipulation, and the use of exposure and shutter speed. while he does have images that stand alone, instants and moments captured and perfectly encapsulated, he strives instead to examine the multiplicity of perspectives that occur within that one moment. there is an inherent danger in the idea of a single story; a mono-perspective can lack truth and depth. oakley’s process of injecting these myriad perspectives into the imagery, a reflection of the world we live in today, often results in chaos and disorder that can be viewed either intimately in smaller rooms or at large and panoramic scales as show-stopping focal points.

each image is carefully reproduced using only the highest-grade archival papers and pigments.

joshua wilder oakley is committed to the fight against climate change and ensuring that his work is produced and delivered to you carbon-neutrally. Our studios are run on 100% sustainable energy. we partner and work with companies that share the same values and commitment to sustainability. to offset the carbon produced by shipping one tree will be planted for every print sold through one tree planted. and in order to help frontline communities most affected by climate change 5% of the purchase price will be donated to the climate justice alliance.
